Quick Tips From My Recent VC Pitch

  1. Relax and don’t be nervous. Think of how you feel when you play your favorite sport… and get in that zone. Have fun!
  2. Be prepared to be flexible. Your presentation is never going to go accordingly to plans. You better know it, inside and out. Be prepared for the server to go down. Screen size to be off. Bookmarks to be lost. You’ll have to adjust to everything. Adversity is good.
  3. Learn the phrase, ‘I don’t know, yet‘. It is ok if you don’t have all the answers, you are a startup.
  4. I wouldn’t ever highlight your weaknesses, spend time focusing on your strengths- unless directly asked- then be prepared.
  5. Practice, practice, practice- in front of the very brightest people you know. Demand their time.
  6. Be patient. The process is filled with ups and downs. Try to take it ‘call by call.’

You must have tenacity. This is not an easy process.

These are just a few of my thoughts I’d like to share with other entrepreneurs who might make an attempt at fundraising. Good luck!

Great advice. This isn’t only useful for entrepreneurs who might make an attempt at fundraising, but for any and all business presentations as well. These are great tips for gaining clients, so thanks!
