Greenwala – The Green Social Network

A few of you have a followed my status updates recently and know that I was an integral part of building and launching a Green Social Network, dubbed Greenwala. For the last four months my team at Integral Impressions has worked aggressively to bring to life a social network dedicated to the green community. We are very proud to say Greenwala launched one week ago today to much acclaim from friends, bloggers, and early adopters.

Greenwala is a green social network and media company that prides itself on connecting individuals with the goal of growing education, community, and commerce surrounding green initiatives. Greenwala’s founding CEO, Rajeev Kapur, has surrounded himself with talented team of individuals dedicated to making a difference.

Users of Greenwala can create groups, participate in discussions, find other like minded individuals, and post businesses listings in the classified marketplace. One of the key differences between Greenwala and other (less focused) social networks, is that Greenwala regularly contributes content to Channels found on their network; offering an ongoing education on topics ranging from Transportation, to Energy.

Many green groups exist on other social networks, but there isn’t a brand standard for Green social networks. By leveraging tools that tap into other social networks, Greenwala will build a community dedicated to helping people live more sustainable lives all over the world.

My company, Integral Impressions, won the initial development contract for phase 1 of Greenwala. Since launching the project, I’ve joined their advisory board as a technical advisor and strategic consultant. I work closely with Jonathan Good (@rockstarpr) and Rajeev Kapur guiding the direction of the product and driving the development schedule.

The next big code push we have planned for Greenwala is a Facebook Connect app which is currently waiting for approval. The goal is to create a single sign-on experience that allows users to easily connect to friends in their other networks that are also on Greenwala. In other words, if you are my friend on Facebook, you will also be my friend on Greenwala, automatically. Look for this, and many other innovative features that make your user experience more and more enjoyable.
