The social card scanner connects you to social media.

My idea is relatively simple but could be a powerful trend.

To set the stage, think of a company with the style and culture of MooCards and the design of Virb.

The idea is a business card scanner that searches the various social media networks for the contacts you’ve scanned, and adds them to the networks you’ve chosen.

Example:

I want to a SxSW and I got 140 new cards to scan and add to my social networks. It would be nice to scan my cards and have the introductions automatically sent out. I want a social card scanner that helps me connect with all of my new contacts!

In my personal opinion, I don’t think CardScan could really pull this off. You need a smaller company with unique branding that targets these social communities.

Someone should raise some money, write a plan, and do this damn thing!

Digg it?

Watching the ProBlogger, Darren Rowse, on the basic things you can do to standout when promoting your blog.
We’ve recorded the first 30 minutes of a design meeting Chris had with a group of creative professionals stressing the importance of web design, with an emphasis on user interaction and web standards. For anyone that has struggled with convincing someone to stop building Flash-based sites, you should get value out of this recording.

SD Blogger MeetUp

February 27, 2008

I posted a recap of the SD Bloggers MeetUp over on the Integral Impressions blog. I was having trouble with WordPress and I didn’t want to regurgitate the same post twice. As you will read from the post, we had 20 bloggers in attendance that contributed to our best MeetUp event yet! Thanks to @Viss and @SarahCarr84 for helping promote the group on Twitter and Facebook; much obliged.

Blogger Meetup Growing

February 15, 2008

Great news! We are anticipating a pretty big turnout for the next blogger Meetup. We are going to make this next meetup more of a mixer, allowing everyone to introduce their blog. The goal of this meetup will be to network and ‘link’ with your fellow bloggers. Be sure to join the SD Blogger Facebook group too!

Old Meets New

Old Meets NewOriginally uploaded by MattBrowne-Photography.

I posted the photos from my business trip to Chicago this weekend over at FlickR. Add me as a contact- as I keep most of my work outside the limelight of Flickr public search.

Chris and I are attending the Seed Conference tomorrow.  We arrived in Chicago this afternoon and if you are in town for the conference, be sure to email us. If you’d like to get live updates from the conference I am going to be twittering my notes, so be sure to follow twitter.com/mattsurfs.

The Seed Conference will be conducted by Jason FriedCarlos Segura, and Jim Coudal. The conference will inspire discussions on design and entrepreneurship. We hope it will be a positive forum for networking, unconventional ideas, and innovation. We hope to see you there!
